A gangster, Chandan Mishra, was shot and killed inside a private hospital in Patna. CCTV footage captured five armed assailants entering the hospital ward and fleeing after the incident. In response, the police offered a justification, stating that crime rates in Bihar tend to rise between April and June when farmers have less work. Union Minister Jeetendra Ramanji blamed the private hospital for lax security, while noting the killing was a result of a gang war. The opposition has heavily criticized the government for the increasing crime rate and the breakdown of law and order. The Leader of the Opposition stated, "in today's date, a person who leaves the house after paying his respects to God, there is no such day when there is no murder."
