Rishi Kumar is a Democrat, Silicon Valley hi-tech executive and mechanical engineer running for U.S. Congress (CA-16). As a Saratoga councilmember, he was elected with the most votes in Saratoga's history for getting things done. He has served on Governor Brown’s UC Regents committee and also on California's K-12 public school computer science curriculum implementation panel. Rishi has been elected and served multiple terms as the Executive Board and Delegate to the California Democratic Party. He brings tech industry experience and a track record of people-centric public service. Rishi lives in Saratoga with his wife and two children.

---Rishi’s historic performance at the November 2022 election:
In the November 2022 U.S. Congress election for CA-16, Rishi Kumar secured 102,000 votes, receiving a historic 42.2% of the total vote share - winning many cities and precincts in the congressional district. This marks the best performance by a challenger in three decades, even though he was outspent 3 to 1 by the incumbent. Rishi is poised for an upset victory in the 2024 election - the current officeholder has been in political office for 44 years, and will be 82 years old by then.

----Primary Election date: March 5, 2024:
Thanks to many of you, our campaign triumphed in California's 2022 primary election, defeating six other formidable candidates to advance to the general election. Rishi is ready to win again in 2024!
Note: California's unique jungle primary system allows the two highest vote-getters in the primary to proceed to the general election, regardless of party affiliation.

---Rishi's activism on the Saratoga city council:
Rishi is a fiscally moderate problem-solver who fights for the people. As an engineer and immigrant, he found his calling as an activist tackling complex community issues. As a councilmember, he has challenged the system and focused on tough problems seeking to find solutions. He rejected many San Jose Water Company rate hikes, reduced burglaries, and stopped a hotel mega-project in an environmentally sensitive zone. When his colleagues proposed a road tax, he dissented and pushed for budget optimization instead. Rishi brings common sense thinking and a track record of results.
