[Hawaiʻi] Ewa sugar plantation started its operation in 1890, but most of it was over by the 1970s. If you visit the area you will still find historic buildings from that time period. Today, people refer to the area as Ewa Beach. People have inhabited the area for hundreds, if not thousands of years.
