In this video, Dr. Vidita Vaidya, a neuroscientist at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) at Mumbai talks with Dr. Atul Gopal- a member of the Sci-ROI leadership team about her career journey; particularly about her transition to India after postdoctoral training abroad. She also talks about the initial struggles of setting up a laboratory and how her research evolved over a period of time. Dr. Vaidya also gives advice to aspiring applicants on how to write their research proposals and how to tackle their first few years in India.

Dr. Vidita Vaidya is a neuroscientist and professor at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai. Her lab is interested in understanding the neurocircuitry of emotion. Dr. Vaidya received her undergraduate degree from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai in Life-Science and Biochemistry. She obtained her doctoral degree in Neuroscience at Yale University and her postdoctoral work was done at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and at the University of Oxford in the UK. She joined the Department of Biological Sciences, TIFR, in March 2000.
