Hi I'm Dr. Kelly Bridenstine owner of Perfect Smiles Dental Care here in Lenexa, Kansas. You know a lot of people ask us questions about things pertaining my dental office and one of the most frequently asked questions is, "What kind of things does a doctor and staff do to make patients comfortable?" Excellent question! You know we try to go above and beyond to help our patients feel comfortable when they come to our dental office and our number one priority is patient's comfort. Let me tell you few things we do to help people feel comfortable in our dental office probably to receive dental treatment.

First of all, all of our down chair are equipped with Tempur-Pedic pads, nice cushion you almost sink in the dental chair just helps you relax, takes that anxiety level immediately away. We also have 26-inch flat screen TVs in every treatment room playing movies; we have grown up movies, kid movies, documentaries and comedies. You can pick whatever you want, we can pipe it right in right there for your enjoyment while you're getting numb or waiting for the doctor to come in.


We also have a selection over 200 CDs with walkman headphones you can listen to before and during the dental appointment, drowns out the dental sounds helps you relax you can even bring your own CD if you want to play it. People like to crank up AC/DC or whatever so they don't hear anything. Another thing that we have is iPads you can play games, check your email, read the newspaper, read novels with tons of stuff downloaded. Again you can use that to help you relax while you're waiting for your doctor to come in or while we're waiting for your tooth fall asleep. Another thing we do it really helps people is we put pillows under their legs that helps support their back. It takes all the pressure off their lower back while they're in the dental chair.

And we also put a blanket over you just to help you stay nice and comfy and warm and it just really helps people relax. Another thing we do is after the appointment we offer nice warm hot towel, moist towel, washcloth to wipe off all of my fingerprints off your chin just freshen things up so when you go back to work, it doesn't look like you went to a dental office. Another thing we do is we offer analgesics over the counter for every person receiving dental treatment. Advil, Tyanol and if it's surgery procedure obviously we write prescription drugs; prescriptions analgesic that help people with any kind of pain control post operative.

Another thing we do routinely is, before we numb anybody up we use a little cotton q-tip with some topical anesthesia on it to rub the cheeks with the gum we numb people up they hardly feel anything. It's usually pain free.
