Dororo is a story about becoming whole. And while that can be taken literally, and might seem obvious cuz Hyakkimaru's story is literally about regaining the lost pieces of himself, but it expands into so much more. Everything in this story is broken. The characters, Japan, Hyakkimaru, emotions, and the story is about finding a way to bring it all back into a rightful equilibrium. Yet at the same time, we get the good slashy slashy of a samurai warrior fighting demons. It's a story that is dripping with symbolism and purpose, but still contains the bite we love from a hardcore manga and show.
