Miami Hurricanes Football — "The Drive For Five" — [2000 Season]

A break down of an epic 11-1 season for the 2000 Miami Hurricanes, who finished No. 2 on the year and would've been national champions if not snubbed from playing No. 1 Oklahoma for the title—opposed to the No. 2 Florida State Seminoles, who fell 13-2 to the Sooners in the title game, while No. 3 Miami beat the brakes off of No. 7 Florida in the Sugar Bowl, 37-20.

No. 4 Miami's early-season loss at No. 15 Washington ultimately kept UM fro the title game, despite going on to win out, beat No. 1 Florida State (27-24) and No. 2 Virginia Tech (41-21)—the defending champs and runner up for the 1999 season—as well as routing everyone on the schedule and even going for style points in the regular season finale, waxing Boston College, 52-6.

Still, the BCS didn't account for head-to-head in 2000 and somehow the final computer polls put one-loss Florida State ahead of one-loss Miami, despite the Hurricanes setting that argument on the field at the Orange Bowl on October 7th—UM's first win over FSU since 1994.
