Mage: the Ascension - Introduction to the Lore

NOTE: At one point, I say Mage the Awakening, but obviously I meant Mage: the Ascension. Sorry for that!

Also, thanks to Max S Hardcastle for pointing out that it's not Entropy itself, but rather just plain old evil / extradimensional horrors that the Nephandi serve. Mages who are overcome by Entropy are referred to as Jhor.

To wield magic is to stand tall against the mundane; to deny the common reality for one of your own making. To be a mage is to be the god of your own creation.

Yet gods are prideful creatures and the greatest enemy of a mage is another mage; their hubris and will leave little room for compromise.

In this world of demi-gods, those who control the masses control the reality, and as the Traditions fight the Technocracy for the shape of the future, evil forces beyond our comprehension seek to twist reality into their own, infernal paradise.

In Mage: the Ascension, you can choose to awaken, or you can remain asleep.
