Angular version 13 is released and I will mention the new features added here in short.

Form improvements
Better type checking for form control status
A new type called FormControlStatus was added to enable better type checking when working with form control statuses. This is a union type of all possible status strings for form controls. Up to now, we couldn’t benefit from Typescript type checking due to the AbstractControl.status being typed as a string and the AbstractControl.statusChanges being an Observable any

Router improvements
Setting the routerLink directive value to null or undefined will now completely disable navigation. For HTML Anchor elements, it will also remove the href attribute. Before, the null and undefined inputs for the routerLink directive were equivalent to an empty string and there was no way to disable the link’s navigation.

Typescript 4.4.2 support


After several versions of Angular transitioning to the Ivy view engine, the legacy View engine is no longer supported. Ivy is now the only view engine supported by Angular.


The Angular Package Format (APF) is a specification of the structure and format of the Angular framework packages and it is also the recommended way of packaging any third-party library in the ecosystem.
