The third and final webinar of spring 2021, “Social dialogue: A key pillar of due diligence”, took place on Tuesday, 22 June 2021. In this webinar, speakers discussed the relationship between due diligence and social dialogue. Stakeholder engagement in the form of social dialogue plays a key role in implementing effective due diligence for responsible business conduct, as it assists businesses in identifying and addressing potential adverse impacts that result from their operations or that occur through their supply chains and other business relationships. At the same time, due diligence can also strengthen social dialogue itself, as businesses need to ensure safeguards are in place that support respect for the right to organise and the right to bargain collectively – both representing key pillars of social dialogue.

• Veronica Nilsson, Head of the Global Deal Support Unit
• Evelyne Pichot, Team Leader ILO Relations, Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, European Commission
