Speed reducer: In this configuration, the input shaft is connected to the ring gear, the planetary gears are connected to the output shaft, and the sun gear is held stationary. This configuration reduces the speed of the output shaft.

Reverser: In this configuration, the input and output shafts are connected to the sun and ring gears respectively, and the planetary carrier is held stationary. This configuration reverses the direction of rotation of the output shaft.

It's important to consider the load capacity, power, torque and speed when choosing a planetary gearbox. The environment in which the planetary gearbox will be used, such as in high or low temperature and if it is exposed to dust, moisture or chemical also plays an important role. The material of the gearbox and the sealing should also be considered.
