Elliott Smith Phone Interview, October 2000

Описание к видео Elliott Smith Phone Interview, October 2000

An interview I did over the phone with Elliott Smith in October of 2000 for Soundboard Magazine (Boulder, CO).

This was originally digitized for the first episode of my Hunting for Candle-Ends podcast which is still available: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast....

Disclaimer: Audio quality is poor, and interview quality is so-so. I recorded the interview over my lunch break at my office job using a suction-cup mini tape recorder in somebody else's office (fortunately they didn't return).

After reading many interviews with Elliott that seemed very intrusive about his personal life, I had decided to stick mostly to songs about his songwriting. After showing my questions to my editor, he had said words to the effect of "Try to figure out what turns him on." Since I hadn't really asked that question, nor was I sure how to ask it, it's the reason there's such a long pause before I ultimately asked it at the end (and failed to follow up).

RIP Elliott Smith August 6, 1969 – October 21, 2003
