I just spoke with s group of students talking about working in software sales. After being a sales development representative for the first two years of my career, I finally promoted to an account executive (AE). The first thing many people asked about is software sales salaries.. it always boils down to the pay.

If you work your way up to enterprise software sales you can make a killing! The main pros of working in software sales is clear promotion path (SDR-AE-Enterprise Sales-Leadership-CEO), the other pro is that it’s the most remote friendly job around, lastly is that your skill will always be in demand.

The con is that is super competitive, the other con is that is can be stressful & impact your personal life, the last con is that people may judge you thinking that you are, “just anther sales person” when in reality you are super important.
