How to fix Error 99 on Canon EOS Rebel XS 1000D DSLR

If you've already tried cleaning your lens contacts, replacing the lens and formatting your memory card without any results then maybe this will help:

Step one: Always leave the power switch in the on position.

Step two: Set the "auto power off" to OFF or a long time out. Alternately, you can just keep touching the shutter button to prevent auto power off.

Step three: Open and close the memory card door by pulling it back and then immediately forward to close.

Step four: Begin to shoot. I always click off one photo before setting up for my shot, just to verify that the code has reset.
