Neither Here Nor There is a member of Harvest Hosts and for the trip north from the Los Angeles area, I booked a night in an Oregon vineyard, Melrose Vineyard. The drive north from Yreka was uneventful. It was an easy drive from the interstate to the Vineyard and I was beyond pleasantly surprised at the size and beauty of the Melrose Vineyard. Laura, the server, in the tasting room was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. The only glitch I experienced was when I attempted to find a level parking spot on the grass yard below the barn. My minimal and infantile trailering skills, combined with uneven grass, proved a challenge that I was unable to overcome so I drove back up to the parking area and settled in. (Because it was a Monday and not crowded ,the blacktop areas were open. If you don't want to park on grass, set up your stay for a weeknight.)

Though I'm a woman traveling alone, I felt very safe at the vineyard for the night and, as I mention, the night sky, miles away from big city lights, presented the perfect canvas of black out of which the billions of stars sparkled down on me.

I was worried about the heat as I don't have an onboard generator in my 5th wheel but it was only in the 90's and the evening cooled down quickly. (Plus, I had my battery-operated DeWalt fan.) Yes, I did purchase a portable Honda generator but haven't oiled or fueled it up yet. Maybe I'll cover that in a future video.
