Ukraine situation: ICC judge issues arrest warrants for Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Maria Alexeyevna Livova-Belova
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has called for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin for allegedly illegally deporting children and transferring persons from Ukrainian territory to the Russian Federation.
It also issued an arrest warrant for Russia's children's rights commissioner, Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, on similar charges.
Russia has denied the allegations. "The ICC ruling means nothing to our country, including from a legal perspective."
“Russia is not a party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and has no obligations,” she posted.
Russia signed the Rome Statute in 2000 but never ratified membership of the ICC, eventually withdrawing its signature in 2016.

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the United States, the European Union[1], and other Western countries[2] have imposed or substantially expanded sanctions on Russian President Vladimir Putin and other members of his government,[3] and banned “ Selected Russian banks" use the SWIFT international payment system,[4] triggering a 2022 Russian financial crisis and a massive international boycott of Russia and Belarus supporting the invasion.

Still, the fact remains that Russia's revenues have not been affected by the impact on its ability to wage war.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping will fly to Moscow next week to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, his first visit to Russia since Putin launched his devastating invasion of Ukraine more than a year ago.
The visit will be seen as a powerful show of Beijing's support for Moscow in Western capitals, whose leaders have grown increasingly concerned about a deepening partnership between the two countries as the war in Europe rages on.
