'ID' is deeper than what listeners may hear on its surface. Yes, you see glamour, cash, and may perceive this as yet another flexing opportunity. But no, it's a song about striving not only for wealth or financial stability, but it's a declaration of truth, an oath to improve as a provider for the betterment of the family. This requires constant confrontation with one's weakness, and so I say "got no time for the bottles and weed, got no time for the models and scenes" because the only option is to elevate in every way. Alcohol, drugs, and lust for women are some of the things that can ruin a man in various ways, though some may argue that it doesn't. I have battled alcohol for a decade. I relapse here and there, but all I can say is that it's been a journey and I ain't perfect. I left the club scene long ago, which helped towards my ongoing path to sobriety. I thank God I always had a drive for success because I wouldn't have had the discipline that has kept me away from being consistently consumed by substances to a point where no progress could be made. I won't lie, there were times I was stuck, but I never stayed stuck, and that is all that matters. "I don't need ID" refers to not needing it because I'm not active in the club scene. In other words, I'm saying that I'm more at the bank than at the club. Stay focused!
