Ad Infinitum is a Swiss symphonic metal band formed in 2018 by vocalist Melissa Bonny, initially as her solo project. It evolved into a full band with the addition of drummer Niklas Müller, guitarist Adrian Thessenvitz, and bassist Jonas Asplind, later replaced by Korbinian Benedict in 2020 due to Asplind’s health issues. Signed to Napalm Records in 2019, the multinational band blends symphonic, power, and metalcore elements, with Bonny’s versatile vocals shifting between soaring melodies and death metal growls. Their debut album, Chapter I: Monarchy (2020), explored dark historical themes, while their 2021 release, Chapter II: Legacy, delved into the legend of Vlad the Impaler. Known for their intense live performances, including festivals like Rockharz Open Air, they’ve released four albums, with Chapter IV: Elysium (2024) marking their latest work.
“Into the Night” is a powerful track from Ad Infinitum’s second album, Chapter II: Legacy, released on October 29, 2021, via Napalm Records. Written by Melissa Bonny, Adrian Thessenvitz, Niklas Müller, and Korbinian Benedict, and produced by the band with Jacob Hansen, the song merges heavy riffs, orchestral elements, and Bonny’s dynamic vocals, ranging from clean singing to visceral growls. Its lyrics, like “Into the night, the only place where I belong / Dead or alive, I will find my way, my fears are gone,” explore embracing one’s darker side and finding freedom in self-acceptance, with themes of moral conflict and transformation. The track’s intense energy, highlighted by a raw “Blegh” in the bridge, and its cinematic music video, released in 2021, amplify its emotional depth, making it a fan favorite for its empowering narrative and symphonic metal ferocity.
