Описание к видео Assume vs Presume - Difference between "assume" and "presume" - Wow Lessons

What's the difference between "assume" and "presume"?
Do they mean the same thing? They both mean you take something for granted as being true, but the difference is based on how certain you are. Let's explore assume vs presume in detail with examples in our today's short video.
Assume
Assume and presume, are both verbs that sound similar but have a thin line of difference. To assume means to think that something is right, although you don't have definite proof.
Presume
As explained above, when you assume, you do it without proof or reasons. On the other hand, 'Presume' is the contrary, and it means to suppose something based on probability. Basically, you have some idea, such as evidence, or proof to think that it is more likely to be true than not. When you 'presume', you have a greater sense of assurance than when you merely 'assume'.
