A Year in Granada 🌞✈️
Was meant to be heading home to Spain… ended up in Liverpool instead.

I was meant to fly from Manchester Airport back to Granada, but after delays and a reroute, I found myself spending the night in Liverpool instead. And while that could have been a travel nightmare, full credit to the Manchester Airport and EasyJet teams—they were brilliant. I’ve got real respect for the staff who handled a difficult situation with calm and care, helping disappointed travellers while keeping everything moving.

For holidaymakers, I could see how hard it hit—when you’ve waited months for a break and suddenly lose a day or even just have a rough start, it’s gutting. In Granada, we’re lucky enough to get little moments of that holiday feeling almost every day—eating outside, catching the sun, heading to the beach or pool. But in the UK, where the weather and pace don’t allow for that as easily, holidays really matter. So when something goes wrong, the disappointment runs deep—and you could really feel that in the airport.

But one thing this year in Granada has taught me is to lean into these moments. When life gives you limes… make margaritas. 🍸

EasyJet sorted a hotel, a new flight, and now I’ve got a few unexpected hours to explore Liverpool—a city I’ve only dipped into briefly since student days (usually involving Cream and not much sightseeing).

Already spotted a couple of intriguing buildings on the way in, and I’ll definitely be rounding things off with some great Chinese food before flying out.
