Disney's Strange World Collector set arrived. They are just figures, not action figures. I have already setup the premise for the Strange World to appear in my stories, so I had to go get them.

So the collector's set comes with eight figures. Splat, Ethan, Legend, Reaper, Searcher, Meridian, Jaeger and Callisto. We will use these characters to introduce everyone to Avalonia, but I don't think I will do a dedicated series with Strange World. The figures are too tiny. The faces look weird when they are zoomed in.

There are two female characters in the set, but they are hardly the main characters in the movie. Dolls are only released when the main character, the protagonist, or the deutragonist is a female. So not for Strange World.

I feel like this world needs a little more world building. A little more relationship building. A little more magic. Or maybe I feel that way because the toy selection is a bit underwhelming for this movie.

But anyway, we have Splat, the blob. It's basically mucus personified. I still can't get over the idea that it's mucus.

And then there is Ethan Clade. It's a bit confusing whether or not Ethan is the main character or Searcher is. It feels like Searcher might be the protagonist, but Ethan should have been the protagonist. Disney Animations always follow the lives and perspectives of the teenagers in the story, not the middle aged parents. Which means we should have gotten like 80% of the show about Ethan and his view of the world. It's a bit confusing how the story is written. And moreover, I wish Ethan figure was standing straight, not trying to jump over a rock.

Legend is the three legged dog. I think the missing leg is totally unnecessary for the story. Maybe this was a spoof on Cerberus. Instead of the three-headed dog, we have a three-legged dog. But anyway, I think he should've been a normal four legged dog. His missing leg is a bit distracting to the story.

I got this set really for Reaper. I think it might come in really useful.

Searcher Clade seems like a nice guy. I would've liked it better if it did not take him 25 years to go find his missing father. Maybe he should have went on the search like two or three years later. And he should have been the main character of the show and he should have remained a teenager.

Meridian is a bit unnecessary in the show. She is just an all around supporting character. A good mother, a good wife, a good farmer, a good pilot.

Jaeger Clade is like the main antagonist of the show. I don't know why he still couldn't find his way back home in 25 years. Even if he couldn't find his way back home, he should have reached the turtle's head in that time frame. He is like a heartburn personified with his flame thrower. The turtle might be very uncomfortable every time Jaeger used that flamethrower.

And then finally there is Callisto. She is another background character. I can't believe she decided to go on a dangerous mission herself and did not delegated the work to Searcher. If she dies, who is going to rule over Avalonia. And there is that time when Callisto threw the Clades into the storage room. She seems to be lacking in good judgment all around. She is kind of the secondary antagonist, which makes the story unnecessarily complicated especially for a less than two hours movie.

Anyway, I'm glad that I got these figures. I don't think I will use them a lot, but at least I know I have them.
