As I stepped through the doors of the legendary Peacock Gym in Canning Town, it is clear that Mr Anthony Yarde is already here, as the team’s laughter can be heard from the road outside the building - the energy and love could be felt before I was greeted by any of them. Anthony was sipping his coffee from an old school polystyrene cup and met me with a wide grin and huge hug that instantly made me feel at home in his presence.

The WBO European Light Heavyweight champion is at the start of a promising career with a record of 13-0 with 12 knockouts, His face is one that is on multiple channel adverts, his swag is something that he carries with him all of the time and despite what you think of him, his power and talents speak for themselves.

Yarde’s story started at school where he excelled in many sports, he loved football, athletics and frequently played basketball - turning his hand to anything he tried but the thing that was lacking was a passion in what he is doing - that was until he entered a boxing gym and laced up a pair of gloves, something his mum was never too keen on.
