"In a word: overwhelming. Overwhelming, totally overwhelming. I mean when you look at the long list of previous honorees and to have my name mentioned alongside theirs, I don't yet know what even to say about it because there's people on that list who have had profound influence not only on me but on the American cultural landscape, so it is an honor, an unparalleled honor."

"Well I'm always attracted to the strange ask. You know when someone asks you to play Elizabeth I and then six months later you get asked to play Bob Dylan you know it's... You know and it's when a director asked you to do something that... I think that's what I'm driven by. It's the conversation and so I think about the process not the outcome. So I never kind of pay attention too much to how it's digested because that's outside your control."

"I don't think about fame per se. But I think it's more -- entertainment is provocation. It's provocation to laugh, to cry, to be enraged, to be terrified. You know, I'm a great lover of horror, the horror genre. You know like it's a provocation and so the podcast about, called 'Climate of change,' which we did through Audible, it's a provocation to engage. Because I, I think like a multitude of people are feeling really overwhelmed by the systemic inactivity around climate change and I wanted to know what was being done about it. And I've got friends who are very well-versed and know the stats and are you know actively doing stuff out there and I wanted to try and share that with a wider audience. To sort of help people feel, assuage their overwhelm because I myself am feeling quite overwhelmed by it all."

"I think it's great that she gets the award and I like what the award means because I feel like today there's sometimes a lot of actors that come and go and she has been able to keep a career just going and doing just one amazing film after the other. CATE BLANCHETT CALLS BEING HONORED WITH CHAPLIN AWARD 'OVERWHELMING'
Before receiving this year's Chaplin Award, Cate Blanchett could only describe the honor as "overwhelming."
"Totally overwhelming. I mean when you look at the long list of previous honorees and to have my name mentioned alongside theirs, I don't yet know what even to say," Blanchett said.
She spoke to the Associated Press on the red-carpet Monday night (25 APRIL 2022) at the 47th Chaplin Award gala.
"There's people on that list who have had profound influence not only on me but on the American cultural landscape, so it is an honor, an unparalleled honor."
The gala celebrated the actor's versatile body of work over the years, something Blanchett says she's drawn.
Blanchett also said she will not be attending Monday's Met Gala.
