Working remotely is quickly becoming more commonplace. The advantages of working remotely include not having to commute, working in a familiar and comfortable space, flexibility in time, staying focused, and a higher productivity level. But, remote work can also have disadvantages. Working remotely also means being able to distinguish and separate home and work life, not having face to face interactions with colleagues, and feeling comfortable enough to reach out if a personal or work issue arises. Being in an environment where you are in the same space can mean finding a balance and knowing when to disconnect from your work and knowing that sometimes there is no off switch. Depending on your location, disadvantages can also include acquiring reliable internet connection and being aware of time differences from your colleagues. Knowing how to prioritize and establish boundaries is essential when working remotely.
