What is Duloxetine ( Cymbalta )?

Duloxetine is an Antidepressant, belongs to a category of drugs called serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). It inhibits the reuptake of both serotonin and norepinephrine. Enhancing serotonergic and adrenergic functions. And it may be effective in treating depression in patients in whom SSRIs are ineffective.

It is available as 20 mg, 30 mg and 60 mg tablets.

It is used in the treatment of depression and anxiety. It is also used to help relieve nerve pain (peripheral neuropathy) in people with diabetes or ongoing pain due to medical conditions such as arthritis or chronic back pain. Duloxetine may improve your mood, sleep, appetite, and energy level, and decrease nervousness.
