Learning how to get a nursing degree is the first step toward a rewarding career.

If you hold a non-nursing bachelor’s degree or at least 60 college credits, you could be eligible for Averett University’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program in Virginia and earn your degree in as few as 16 months.

“It's just combining the two years that you would’ve done in school towards your specific major anyway, just in a condensed time frame,” says student James Jones. “There were milestones that I could see along the way.”

The program includes three main components:
• Online nursing courses cover nursing theory via an interactive e-learning platform.
• Skills and simulation labs allow you to hone your clinical judgment in a risk-free environment using state-of-the-art equipment.
• Clinical rotations allow you to provide care to real patients at top healthcare facilities in Norfolk and Hampton Roads, Virginia.

The ABSN program prepares students to sit for the NCLEX-RN, the national licensure exam and the final step to becoming a registered nurse.

“Traditional BSN programs are about four years. I like that it was only 16 months. It’s gone by fairly quick, and I'm glad I did it,” says ABSN student Gil Pruitt.
