NV3500 Rebuild

Описание к видео NV3500 Rebuild

Rebuild of an NV3500 5-Speed Manual Transmission from a 99 Chevy S-10 Blazer. I bought this Blazer for $450 with the transmiison locked up, I found it had a broken 1-2 Shift Fork, I put about $100 into this rebuild, I got parts from Midwest Transmission Center, they were really friendly and they have techs that you can talk to if you're not sure what parts you need.

This was my first attempt at a Youtube Video so bear with me, I know I missed some important parts and didnt start filming until the re-assembly process. Mainly I did this to help anyone else who may be diving into one of these on thier own, I search before tackled this one and didn't find much useful information, i hope this helps!

I built an Assembly Fixture to get this thing back together, it is really necessary to do this because the reverse idler needs to be in position as the rear case half goes on, it can not be put in after the rest of the guts, also imagine trying to hold 50lbs worth of gears that can rotate freely and slide them into the case while its on its side. I will try to get measurements put up so you can build your own, it's nothing fancy...

There were a couple things I missed showing in the video: Counter Shaft (Cluster Gear) Bearings, these are a large needle roller bearing in a plastic cage, when you put the case halves on you need to pack the bearing with some type of thick assembly lube (Vaseline) and make the rollers stick to the shaft, if you dont do this you will have a hard time getting the bearing to seat in its race thats pressed into the case because the rollers will relax outward and cause interference. I did not replace any syncronizers, this would require rebuilding the mainshaft and you would need some type of press to get each part off of the shaft, that may be best left to a transmission shop but you could probably carry the shaft in with the parts you want to change (Syncros) and pay the labor.

I'm going to have this thing back out to do a clutch at some point and I will probably replace syncros at that time if I do, so if you want to see that please subscribe so that you see the new video...whenever that may be.

Thanks For Watching!
