Steps to Check Instagram Last Seen
Open the Instagram App
Unlock your phone and open the Instagram app.
Access Your Profile Settings
Tap on the profile icon located at the bottom right of the screen.
Once in your profile, tap on the three horizontal lines at the top-right corner.
Go to Privacy Settings
From the menu, tap on Settings and Privacy.
Scroll down and tap on Messages and Story Replies.
Enable Activity Status
Find the Show Activity Status option.

Toggle it ON to allow you to view the activity status of accounts you follow or have messaged.

Note: If this option is off, you won’t be able to see others’ activity status, and they won’t see yours.

Check Message Read Receipts
In the same menu, ensure that the Read Receipts option is enabled.
This ensures you can see if someone has read your messages, which indirectly shows their last activity.
View Activity in Messages
Return to your Instagram home screen and tap on the DM (Direct Messages) icon at the top-right.
Open a chat with the person you want to check.
If their Last Active time is enabled, you will see their status (e.g., “Active X minutes/hours ago”).
Troubleshooting
If you can’t see someone’s last seen:
They might have turned off their activity status.
They don’t follow you back.
Your Show Activity Status is disabled.
Quick Recap
Go to Settings Privacy Messages and Story Replies.
Toggle Show Activity Status ON.
Check Direct Messages for activity updates.
