"Airee Sakhi" delves into the poignant realm of Kathak, choreographed by the Nest School of Kathak Dance. Poetry by Hazrat Amir Khushrao Directed by Dr. Nipa Thakkar, this performance captures the raw emptiness that accompanies the loss of a loved one, alongside the complex gratitude for having loved at all. The song precisely captures the essence of feeling complete with a companion with risk of losing one self without the other. It also encompasses the power of true pure love which can construct and sustain on the contrary the loss can destroy as well. All in all it shows a range of emotions that every person in love can relate with.
Kathak word comes from ‘कथा कहे सो कथक’ which means narrating a tale with the help of graceful moves and expressions.
Kuhoo Thakkar's evocative dance, paired with the soul-stirring vocals of Shilpa Ben Andharia and the rich accompaniment by musicians Jwalant Bhai Bhatt and Dr. Nirav Pandya, weaves a narrative that resonates with anyone who has loved and lost. Nest School of Kathak Dance is affiliated to Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva university and is a part of nest - a place to fly high. It is founded by Dr. Nipa Thakkar who has been teaching, choreographing and guiding students for the past 30 years.
