About a third of our couples ask a friend to officiate their wedding. This can be a lovely choice especially when the friend prepares themselves for the task. Here are 10 tips to help you officiate like a pro:

Tip 1: Dress the Part
Tip 2: Have a back up script
Tip 3: Rehearsal
Tip 4: Tell guests to be seated
Tip 5: Practice the timing
Tip 6: Don’t stand between the couple
Tip 7: Have a mic and participate in a mic check
Tip 8: Move out the way!
Tip 9: Have a plan for keeping track of the marriage license
Tip 10: Avoid talking about your own personal experience or friendship with the bride or groom
