Mr. Mussauwa Vincent Wandale is the leader of the People’s Land Organisation. He claims to be Thyolo and Mulanje Supreme Leader. He calls himself the Emperor, Supreme Ruler and King of Kings and Queens of the 36 Kingdoms under the Worldwide Holy Mbamirian Empire created by the African Traditionalist Monarchy of the United States of Thyolo and Mulanje (MUST). He was previously arrested and tried for trespassing after threatening to grab land from estate owners to freely distribute to landless people in his capacity as leader of People’s Land Organisation (PLO). In November 2016, the Blantyre Senior Residence Magistrate court convicted him on three counts he was answering in relation to Mulanje – Thyolo land grabbing case. He was answering conspiracy to commit a misdemeanour, unauthorised use of land and criminal trespassing. In October 2017, President Peter Mutharika, for the first time, denounced Peoples Land Organization’s pronouncements, calling them nonsensical. He said Wandale was promoting anarchy. Wandale continues to insist Thyolo and Mulanje are no longer part of Malawi and that he rules them.
