ASPI Executive Director Justin Bassi claims the government’s new security deal with the Solomon Islands is “very positive”.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese recently unveiled the government’s $190 million investment into the Royal Solomon Islands police force amid China’s growing threat in the region.

“This is important to effectively move the China agreement to one side and ensure Solomons see Australia as the partner of choice,” Mr Bassi told Sky News Australia.

“What Australia does with this deal is help advance Solomon Islands and other nations within the region.”
