சினத்தவர் முடிக்கும் ... முருகன் அடியார்களை கோபிப்பவர்களது
தலைக்கும்,

பகைத்தவர் குடிக்கும் ... அவர்களைப் பகை செய்தவர்களது
குடும்பத்திற்கும்,

செகுத்தவர் உயிர்க்கும் ... அவர்களைக் கொன்றவர்களது உயிருக்கும்,

சினமாகச் சிரிப்பவர் தமக்கும் ... அவர்களைக் கண்டு கோபமாகச்
சிரிப்பவர்கட்கும்,

பழிப்பவர் தமக்கும் ... அவர்களைப் பழிக்கும் தன்மையினர்க்கும்,

திருப்புகழ் நெருப்பென்று ... திருப்புகழே நெருப்பாகி (அடியோடு
அழிக்குமென)

அறிவோம்யாம் ... யாம் நன்கு அறிவோம்.

நினைத்தது மளிக்கும் ... (அடியார்களாகிய யாம்) எதை நினைக்கினும்
அதனை நினைத்தவுடனேயே தரவல்லதும்,

மனத்தையு முருக்கும் ... (பாடுவோர், கேட்போரின்) மனதையும்
உருக்குவதும்,

பிறவாமல் ... மீண்டும் ஒரு தாய் வயிற்றில் பிறவாதவண்ணம்

நிசிக்கரு வறுக்கும் ... இருள் நிறைந்த கருக்குழியில் விழும் துயரை
அறுப்பதும்,

நெருப்பையு மெரிக்கும் ... அனைத்தையும் எரிக்கவல்ல நெருப்பையே
எரிப்பதும்,

பொருப்பையு மிடிக்கும் ... மலையையும் இடித்தெறிய வல்லதுமாகிய,

நிறைப்புகழ் ... எல்லாப் பொருள்களும் நிறைந்த திருப்புகழை

உரைக்குஞ் செயல்தாராய் ... பாடுகின்ற நற்பணியைத் தந்தருள்வாய்.

பேரி ... பேரிகைகள் முழங்கவும்,

தடுட்டுடு டுடுட்டுண் டென ... (அதே ஒலியுடன்)

துடி முழக்கும் ... உடுக்கைகள் முழங்கவும்,

தளத்துட னடக்கும் ... சேனைகளுடன் போருக்கு அணிவகுத்து வந்த

கொடுசூரர் சினத்தையும் ... கொடிய சூராதி அசுரர்களின்
கோபத்தையும்,

உடற்சங் கரித்தம லைமுற்றும் ... அறுத்தெறிந்த பிணமலைகள்
யாவையும்,

சிரித்தெரி கொளுத்தும் ... புன்னகை புரிந்தே அதிலெழுந்த
அனற்பொறியால் எரித்துச் சாம்பலாக்கிய

கதிர்வேலா ... ஒளிமிக்க வேற்படையுள்ள வீரனே,

தினைக்கிரி குறப்பெண் ... தினைப்பயிர் விளையும் மலைக்
குறவள்ளியை

தனத்தினில் சுகித்து ... மார்புற அணைத்து இன்புற்று,

எண் திருத்தணி யிருக்கும் பெருமாளே. ... உயர்ந்தோர்
மதிக்கும் திருத்தணியில் வீற்றிருக்கும் பெருமாளே.

......... Meaning .........

sinaththavar mudikkum: To the hotheads who are angry with Your devotees,

pagaiththavar kudikkum: to the families of those who oppose Your devotees,

seguththavar uyirkkum: to the lives of those who destroy Your devotees,

sinamAga sirippavar thamakkum: to those who with rage jeer at Your devotees,

pazhippavar thamakkum: and to those who abuse Your devotees,

thiruppugazh neruppendr aRivOm yAm: songs of "the Glory of the Lord" feel like Fire and destroy them; we know it is true.

ninaiththadhum aLikkum: These songs grant Your devotees all their wishes;

manaththaiyum urukkum: they melt the minds of the singers and the listeners;

nisikkaru aRukkum piRavAmal: they terminate any future births and confinement in dark wombs;

neruppaiyum erikkum: they are capable of burning even the fire itself; and

poruppaiyum idikkum: they can even demolish mountains into bits and pieces!

niRaippugazh uraikkum seyal thArAy: You have to grant us the ability to sing such songs which are full of Your praise and glory.

bEri: in that meter, the war-drums were beating;

thaduttudu duduttuN denaththudi muzhakkun: (to this sound) beat the thudi (another hand-drum);

thaLaththudan adakkum kodusUrar: to those beats marched the armies of the demons (asuras).

sinaththaiyu mudaRsang ariththa malai mutrunj: Their anger was destroyed and the heaps of the beheaded corpses were totally

siriththeri koLuththung kadhir vElA: burnt down by Your smile alone, Oh bright and mighty Speared Lord!

thinaiggiri kuRappeN thanaththinil sukiththu: You revel on the bosom of Your consort VaLLi, the damsel of KuRavas, who guarded the millet fields in VaLLimalai.

eN thiruththaNi irukkum perumALE.: You chose as Your abode, ThiruththaNigai, worshipped by Your devotees, Oh Great One!
