Dersu Uzala's debut LP Tempus Fugit is the product of three years of musical collision. Brothers Bryn and Griff Burnell grew up together in country Victoria, and over the years they went in two different musical directions -- Griff (Adapted Records) putting out dubbed-out, glitchy bass music, and Bryn playing smoky, late-night blues and jazz piano. After teaming up with Scottish vocalist Malky Taylor (The Volunteers), Dersu Uzala struck on an intriguing hybrid of jazz pianos, inventive, dub-inspired drum programming, britpop vocals, toy xylophones, plucked guitars, and the natural ambience of the Lima Valley, Gareth and Bryn's boyhood home.
