Virtual Tour | Biking through Amsterdam [4K]

Nov 25, 2021 - After two years of postponements due to the pandemic, I finally made it to the Netherlands. The Netherlands is by far my favorite place to visit as there is nowhere else on the planet where cycling is so natural and integrated into society. I spent 4 days over thanksgiving break exploring and cycling around with my wife. Unfortunately, we had some pretty terrible weather as it rained the entire trip. This footage was from the only hour-long period without rain. I captured our ride from Brouwerij ‘t IJ to the general vicinity of Albert Cuyp Market. The route I took was mostly along roads that are part of the auto network, which is why there are so many cars. Despite this, the cycling infrastructure was still far superior to anything I’ve encountered in Chicago. Roads that are part of Amsterdam’s cycling network have much better cycling infrastructure, fewer cars, and many more cyclists.
