Here is HOW NICO WILLIAMS LIVES 🤯
Nico Williams is shining at Euro 2024, breaking into the world of Hollywood movies, fighting racism, building schools in Africa, and turning everything he touches into gold!
But before all this, Nico's and his family's life was a real nightmare and now you will find out how this guy changed his destiny by 360 degrees!
Nico Williams' tough childhood
The childhood of Nico Williams and his brother Inaki, whom you also know well from his performances for Athletic Bilbao, is definitely a movie that millions of people would watch! Yet a dramatic movie...
Nico was born in July 2002 in Pamplona, Spain, to Felix and Maria, migrants from Ghana. Williams' parents fled their homeland, where an economic crisis plagued Ghanaians, who were starving and fleeing poverty as best they could.
To find a better life in Spain, Nico's mother and father traveled four thousand kilometers across the Sahara Desert! They were accompanied by other "doomed" Ghanaians, but the wild heat turned out to be a challenge not for everyone... Many people in the group disappeared or even died on the move from thirst and exhaustion... They were buried right in the desert sands...
Maria was then pregnant with Iñaki, and Felix lost the sensitivity of his feet forever during this dangerous trip! And finally, Williams' parents reached the end, illegally climbed over the fence on the border with Spain, and arrived in the city of Melilla on the Mediterranean coast.
They were detained there and were about to be deported back to Ghana. But the couple was lucky: a lawyer, who did not disclose his name, told them to tear up their Ghanaian documents and claim that they were refugees from Liberia who had fled the civil war. That's how Nico and Inaki's parents were granted political asylum in Spain and eventually ended up in Bilbao. There, they were taken in by a local priest, Inaki Mardones, after whom they named Inaki Williams.
Nico was born later and grew up in Spain when the family had already normalized their lives. However, according to Inaki, the younger Williams is well aware of how lucky he is:
«We had to suffer a lot. Thanks to God we are all here together now, living a really good life. My parents are getting to watch their sons prosper, which is why they came here. Everything we do is for our parents», – says Inaki Williams.
All their lives, the brothers have stuck by each other and helped each other, and from now on we will take a closer look at Niko's life, which is full of surprises!
Williams' special tattoo
Nico Williams is undoubtedly a top player on the football pitch, but he's a quiet guy in real life. Unlike most footballers, he is not the biggest fan of luxury, accessories, or tattoos.
He has only one image on his body, but it has a special meaning! Three years ago, Williams got a tattoo of a lion and a lion cub on his arm. It symbolizes Nico himself and his older brother Inaki, who has been taking care of the younger boy since childhood and is a great example for him.
The older Williams happily supports Nico in everything:
«As an older brother, it makes me really proud to see how he has grown, to see how he is improving as a footballer. He has no ceiling. I'm here to help him, to teach him and give him everything he needs», – Inaki notes.
Also, the lions tattoo on Nico's arm is a tribute to Athletic Bilbao, where both Williams were raised and became professional footballers. The nickname "lions" stuck to the Basque club because the team's stadium is located next to the church of the Christian martyr St. Mamas of Caesarea.
In the early days of Christianity, Mamas was thrown by the Romans into the circus arena to be torn apart by lions, but the wild animals did not eat Mamas, and even began to coddle him! Later, Mamas was canonized as a saint, and Nico Williams, as a religious man, drew inspiration from this.
Although the Athletic star seems to be an unusually modest person with a gentle soul, at the age of 21 he already knows how to make a lot of money and get everything out of his football career!
Earnings, cars, and partnerships of Williams
At Athletic Bilbao, young Nico Williams earns 96 thousand euros a week and 5 million euros a year after taxes! With his first achievements in professional football, Nico Williams quickly earned himself an expensive car! The Bilbao player drives a Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S. The car accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 270 km/h.
However, Williams still consults with his family about all the expensive purchases, and his mother and father keep him from doing anything stupid.
«When I lose my nerve, my mother slaps me first, and if she sees that it's not enough, my father and my brother come over, and that's the end of the nonsense.
I'm not a big fan of letting things go, my parents and my brother have always been very humble and I always ask for permission», – Nico admitted in an interview with El Mundo.
