Opposition questions Karnataka govt's priorities after it releases funds for renovation of temples while farmers await compensation for crop damage due to floods

The Karnataka Government is yet to hand over crop damage compensation to farmers in Karnataka despite farmers suffering over the last 2.5 months due to excessive rainfall.

· But over the last one month, the Karnataka government has released 290 crore rupees in three instalments for various temples and religious places across the state. The Muzrai department is planning to release another 200 Cr rupees in the coming days. With elections fast approaching, the government has shown unseen efficiency in sanctioning and transferring these doles.

· Between June 1 and August 2, the government has estimated that over 20266 hectares of crop damage due to heavy rains. In the same time frame, Karnataka has estimated that at least 60 people and over 400 animals were killed.

· Funds also released for the construction of ‘Yatri Nivas’ (guest houses) at Sabarimala in Kerala, Pandharapur and Siddagiri in and Mantralayam
