(Filmed on 7/1/24). Since today marked another year of me on Earth (AKA my 24th birthday) and that I happened to be in Door County, WI at the time, I decided to celebrate this occasion by filming some elevators within the county peninsula as well as some in Green Bay. I started off by filming this wheelchair (platform) lift here at the Door Peninsula Winery/Door County Distillery in Carlsville. This lift is located in the part of the building that used to be an old school house (built in 1862) and is a Savaria-Concord with the black buttons that use Roman numeral characters for the floor labels. It also happens to be an example of a platform lift that is hydraulic-powered and has an automatic doors.

Now to explain what lead to the bust, which believe it or not is my first time getting busted for riding a wheelchair lift and not being a wheelchair user myself. I know I said in the video that I would use the bathroom excuse if I got questioned or tell the person questioning me that today was my birthday, but instead, I ended up being honest about my hobbies. Thankfully, the person who busted me (a female employee here) was nice, and only did so not necessarily because I am not handicapped but rather the fact that the wheelchair lift is meant to only be used by employees and that any non-employee who absolutely needs to use it is supposed to ask a staff member to assist them. I probably could've easily avoided the bust by immediately exiting the lift once I brought it back down to the bottom landing instead of getting a cab view from that landing (which is where that lady questioned me), but aside from the encounter, this lift was still worth riding.

I also did not let this encounter ruin my special day since I managed to film some other elevators in Door County today without getting busted. I also find it pretty funny how the lady who questioned me asked if I was inspecting the lift. Makes me wonder how she would've react if I answered "yes" to that question, LOL!!!
