Call of Cthulu: Prisoner of Ice - 1 - Intro, Submarine & Edwards Base

Prisoner of Ice (1995) is a horror point & click adventure by Infogrames and a sequel to Shadow of the Comet (1992). Both games were released under the Call of Cthulu banner and were inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft, without beeing literal adaptations.

Prisoner of Ice is set in the 1930s and mixes lovecraft lore with an Indiana Jones-like adventure, including nazi villains and a secret arctic base. You play as Lt. Ryan, an intelligence officer aboard a british submarine, who has to uncover the mystery of the Prisoners of Ice and has to stop the plans of the nazis to harness ancient lovecraftian powers. Locations include a submarine, a british naval base, a Buenos Aires library, an arctic nazi base and even a glimpse into the future by timetravel.

The game features beautifully handdrawn backgrounds and cut scenes. It uses 3D renders for characters and vehicles, which looked stunning for the time of the release.
