[email protected] | Delhi, Nov, 2023: This video starts at what looks like a secret location in Delhi until one is told where it is actually located. The thick thicket of this forested area in the middle of Delhi can often confuse people that this is probably a far off and more wild part of the country. In reality, this forested land is part of the ancient Aravalli Hills that form into what is called the Delhi Ridge in this area.

The Delhi Ridge is divided into a number of parts but the area that we venture into this pleasant early morning is called the Central Delhi Ridge. Mostly away from the noises of the city as well as well-away from the people and hustle of the capital, this area is a calming refuge at most hours of the day but maybe especially so in the early morning.

We spend a lot of time walking around the exploring different spots and views of the Central Delhi Ridge this morning, consciously noticing the different colors and sights and smells filling the landscape all around us. As we continue deeper and deeper into the forest we get closer to our planned destination for the morning - an allegedly haunted old palace in the middle of a forest.

There are a lot of mysterious stories circulating on the internet about this haunted palace but we tried to not get into any of those. But what we did talk about in the video are the known historical bits about this palace. This palace was a hunting lodge built at the time of the Tughlaq rulers of Delhi probably in the 1300s. There are other such hunting lodges found in the middle of the Delhi Ridge at some other spots as well. We will try to explore at least some more of them in a future video.

We spend quite some time by this imposing palace in the middle of nowhere. We also go around a little into the wilderness all around, keeping in mind that this forested area still houses some wild animals such as jackals, wild boars, and even some leopards that are thankfully in restricted protected parts of the forest usually.

After a rich and thoroughly enjoyable morning of exploration in this unsual part of Delhi, we start our walk out of the Central Delhi Ridge and into the usual hustle and bustle and sounds and colors and people of New Delhi. The video ends as we are walking out of the area.
