CSI’s unique cooperative management system engages resident members at every level of the decision-making process. When a senior moves into a CSI property, they become a member of a cooperative that is especially unique as affordable rental housing that does not require significant initial cash outlays that can be cost-prohibitive for lower-income seniors.

As a member of a CSI co-op, a senior can participate in daily management activities involved with leasing and maintenance, as well as vote for and serve on CSI’s Board of Directors, which charts the strategic direction for the entire CSI organization. Co-op members are empowered as they volunteer to manage the daily operation of their home with support from paid professional property management staff. This involvement leads to healthier, happier lifestyles as members stay physically, mentally, and socially active. The system’s success depends upon mutual respect between CSI property management staff and the co-op members.
