Thousands of animals have found lifelong safety thanks to sanctuaries like Unity Farm Sanctuary in Sherborn, Massachusetts. Founded in 2016 by Kathy and John Halamka, Unity is home to more than 250 rescued animals, including cows, pigs, goats, turkeys, llamas, and ponies. Inspired by their daughter, Kathy and John began their vegan journey more than 20 years ago, which ultimately led to the creation of the sanctuary.

The sanctuary’s LEAP program (Leadership for Ethics, Animals, and the Planet) offers a compassionate alternative to traditional 4-H and FFA, equipping young people with leadership and advocacy skills centered around animal welfare and ethical living.
Kathy’s creative background brings a unique and personal touch to everything at Unity. Her photography and writing help connect supporters to the lives and stories of animals like Dudley the Highland steer and Handsome Paul the turkey. Even those who have never visited in person feel a bond through the sanctuary’s engaging social media and website.
