On January 3, 1777, George Washington secured a critical victory at the Battle of Princeton during the American Revolutionary War. In the aftermath of his daring nighttime crossing of the Delaware River, Washington launched a surprise attack on British forces stationed near Princeton, New Jersey. Despite early setbacks and heavy fighting, American troops rallied as Washington personally rode into the fray, turning the tide of battle. The British were forced to retreat, suffering significant losses and abandoning much of New Jersey. The victory at Princeton, following closely after Trenton, revived American morale and proved that the Continental Army could stand against British regulars.
