Jonah walks into Nineveh fully expecting God to smite the city. Some scholars think he intentionally preaches a five word sermon as a sort of “prophetic sabotage” to ensure they don’t have a way to turn from Gods wrath. Yet, they repent and God extends His mercy and grace to them. While God judges sin and evil in this world, He is quick to extend grace when even the worst of us repent.
