I was diagnosed with brain cancer, and I knew that I was going to probably be losing my hair or there was going to be issues there. So when I came here to do my radiation treatment, the first thing I saw that caught my eye was the shop. And I came in here probably three times before, Olga, who's a wig specialist, was actually here, and once I met her and we started talking, I just felt super comfortable with this facility.
Olga Acosta:
I give my patients the service from the beginning of their treatment that they come in here for information, what is going to happen to their hair, and I also tell them when they should buy the wig, try it on. They don't want it to look wiggy, And I totally understand. So what do I do? I tell them I'm going to put the wig on, and then I kick in and I show them, "Let's put it behind the ear." "Oh my God, I never thought that I could do that with a wig." "Okay, let's take it on the sides and bring it up in the back, and put a barrette." All these little tricks that you do with your natural hair, you do it with the wig. There's no other place like this. Under one roof, Miami Cancer Institute has done an amazing job.
Sandy Edie:
I really appreciate the professionalism that Baptist and Miami Cancer Institute have shown me. The people that they've hired have been wonderful, and they're very understanding and compassionate for people who are going through things, such as myself, and I appreciate that tremendously.
