Jacqueline Faherty, a Hubble postdoctoral fellow in Astronomy at DTM and a research scientist in the Department of Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History,discussed her work on "To Be or Not to Be (a Planet): Brown Dwarfs at the Exoplanet Mass Boundary" on Thursday, 24 April 2014 at DTM's Weekly Seminar series.

Faherty received her Ph.D. in physics and astronomy from Stony Brook University in 2010. Her research interests are primarily concerned with the study of brown dwarfs, low mass objects that cannot sustain stable Hydrogen fusion. In 2006, she initiated the Brown Dwarf Kinematics Project (BDKP) in order to use astrometric measurements to investigate fundamental physical properties of the brown dwarf population.
