Steve Cooper, MS is one of Family Tree Counseling Associates' best and most productive Associates. Mark Smith interviews Steve as he discusses how he works with couples in therapy. Steve has a great deal to offer as a therapist to couples, individuals and families.

Steve received his Bachelor's degree from Taylor University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy. He received his Master of Arts in Community Counseling from Ball State University. Prior to coming to Family Tree Counseling, Steve worked for eight years at Grant-Blackford Mental Health in Marion,Indiana. Steve has experience working with severe mental illness, personalitydisorders, addictions, marriage and family issues, eating disorders, attention deficit disorder, gender identity issues, anxiety disorders, depression, codependency, counterdependency, and spiritual/faith issues.

Steve grew up in Martinsville, Indiana. He began work as a missionary on the Navajo and White Mountain Apache Nations in Arizona after graduating from high school. He returned to Indiana to attend classes at Taylor. Steve has also attended classes at Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya, where he advocated for Somalian refugees before the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.

Steve has three beautiful children. They enjoy hiking, telling stories around a campfire, and traveling. Steve is extremely intelligent. He is more research based than other Family Tree Associates.
