Wanted to show you a quick video of trying up the spawn sacs I will be using next fall for Steelhead (mostly) and Salmon. The sacs I'm showing are tied using floater beads. For the size hook I use (Gamakatsu Octopus Circle size 8 - 4), 3 floater beads are just right to get it off the bottom and into the strike zone. If you prefer fishing under a float, you can certainly do them without floaters and they should sink fine in little to no current without any weight. If you are in faster moving water, you will probably want a split shot or 2.

These eggs are from my last steelhead trip of the spring a couple weeks ago. They cured up perfect. They will last in the fridge a while but I wanted to get them tied up, packaged in the right quantity for a trip, and freeze them so when fall comes I can just grab a baggie or 2 out of the freezer and go.

There are dozens of cures steelhead and salmon fishermen use. I find the Pautzke Borax-O-Fire to be the most consistent and easy to use. I have never messed up a batch of eggs with it and the fish respond to them very well.
