Have you ever tried a Dal ki sabji? Truly, this dal ki sabji is a unique dish that tastes absolutely amazing!
Dal Ki sabji is also known as Udad Dal dubki in Chhattisgarh, Karel in UP and Dal Kadhi in Rajasthan.
This Dal Ki sabji is a very traditional dish made in India especially during the monsoon season. When fresh vegetables are not available easily or vegetables are not good quality, this Dal Ki sabji can be a very good options to try out.
The Dal ki sabji recipe is made with white urad Dal, but in some places it is also made with. Yellow moong Dal. For the Dal dubki, you need to soak the Dal for at least 4 to 5 hours, then it is ground into a paste and then small balls of the paste are dropped into boiling Curry. And this is what makes this recipe so unique. The pakoras need not be fried in oil, but are dropped in Curry!

Recipe :

Dal Dubki
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 3-4

Ingredients:
1 cup urad dal (soaked)
2tbsp chopped green chilli
2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1tsp Turmeric powder
2tsp coriander powder
2tsp red chilli powder
2 -3 whole red chilies
1tsp garam masala powder
1tsp cumin seed
1tsp methi seeds
1 pinch Hing
Salt to taste
4 whole red chilli
1tbsp curry leaves
2 tbsp oil
2 glass water

Method:
Wash and soak the urad dal for at least 4 hours. Drain the water and grind the Dal with green chilies, a pinch of hing and quarter cup water to a smooth paste.
Heat oil in a pan at the cumin seeds and the methi seeds, red chillies, curry leaves and the hing. Allow this seeds to splutter and then add the ginger past Stir and saute it till the ginger garlic paste is fragrant. Now add in the powdered spices and 2 glasses of water.
Dissolve 2 tablespoons of the odd Dal paste in quarter cup water and add to the water. Bring the Curry to a boil.
Add small balls of the urad Dal paste to the. Boiling Curry and cover and allowed to cook for 4 to 5 minutes till the urad Dal balls are well cooked. Add salt to taste. Mix well. Ganesh with chopped coriander leaves and serve.
