Bennie Safdie’s film plays like a documentary, not just in the way it’s shot, but also who it’s shot with.

The Smashing Machine Review by Sucharita - Do you like movie based on real people, are you a fan of sports, did you watch Puri Jagannath’s Vijay Devarkonda starrer Liger and wondered, ACTUALLY could these have been a good film? Well okay that’s a bit much, but do I have a recommendation for you. Worth Watching With Sucharita, a series where I tell you about stuff that’s worth watching. Bennie Safdie ki nayi film The Smashing Machine lag gayi hai theatres mein, the same one jisko Bennie gale mein board latkaaye New York ki sadko par promote kar raha hai. Dwayne The Rock Johnson plays Mark Kerr, a mixed martial arts fighter in the 90s, back when the sport didn’t attract quite as much attention and money as it does now. Inspired by a documentary of the same name, about the same man, The Smashing Machine is unlike a stereotypical sports movie, especially about a sport that is so gory and bloody. Jitni yeh film Ultimate Fighting ke baare mein hai, utni hi its about a man addicted to many things, unable to overcome any – drugs, adrenaline and a toxic relationship, leaving you wondering perhaps the fact that the world forgot his name so fast is his own fault. Watch the film for a phenomenon Dwayne Johnson who has said ki this movie changed his life, but also go check it out for a very interesting and unusual music score that’s predominantly jazz?
